Coffee and Tradition: Valentine’s Day Edition

Valentine's Day Gift

Coffee Treats to Make Your Loved One Smile

From last February to this February, it’s safe to say that our lives are entirely different. Socially-distanced park hang-outs and Zoom meetings replaced our once normal daily activities, and online shopping became a national sport. However, as we continue to learn the new ways of life, it’s comforting to know that some things remained untouched: coffee and tradition.

Why Gifts?

St. Valentine’s Day was first declared at the end of the 5th century when the middle of February was marked as the start of the birds’ mating season. This enhanced the idea that February 14 should be deemed a day of romance and affection. Fast forward to the 1400s and it’s said that Charles, Duke of Orleans, wrote a poem for his wife, and it went down in history as the first-ever recorded Valentine’s Day gift...and it’s continued ever since!

Why Coffee?

In the same vein as Valentine’s Day, coffee has long been a tradition of generations past. Enjoying the warm, caffeinated beverage in coffee-houses was a common activity come the 1700’s and shortly after that, people began keeping coffee at their homes to kick-start their day. To give the gift of coffee to your loved ones is to give a traditional gift of affection and gratitude.
